Cast Away Cast!
Cast away is dedicated to lovers of the sea: drifters, swimmers, sinkers, castaways, pirates and inn keepers of the lonesome shore. Especially to Phil Carter, and Pa Keane, who are waiting for us out in the bay.

Patti Keane
Co-creater, set designer and producer of “Cast Away”, Patti is an artist and writer who has spent many hours looking for her car keys on Borth Beach. Thus developing a fascination with the strange creatures who reside in the sunken forest under the seaweed or in the Friendship Inn.
When not hanging out with seagulls, Patti performs her one woman show “Pig and Pipe Dreams” in various venues around the country. Collaborations include a life time of painting, stories and songs with Nic Carter, animations with Micheal Dixon, stage performance with the writer David Sedaris, a ghostly tale on Danny Robin’s Uncanny series, plus stage set and prop design for shows and museums in England and Scotland.
Nicolette Carter

Co-creator and song-writer Nicolette Carter is the writer and illustrator of the Pink Peacock Picture Book, and the writer and producer of the ‘Utterly Charming’ family musical: The Princess and The Peacock- South Street Arts Centre-Reading, Riverhouse Barn Arts Centre- Surrey and – Next Stop Greenwich Theatre, London in 2026. Nicolette has collaborated with Cohen Braithwaite- Kilcoyne- Radio 4 ‘Add to Playlist’ and Radio 2 Folk Award nominee- on the arrangement of the songs for ‘Castway’. She was commissioned to create winning art work for ‘Home is where the Art is’ and has been a featured artist for over twenty years at the famous Skylark Gallery in Southbank. She has also been working with the very talented Felicity Keane Lovell to create the music for the show. The Mudd Club are the past, present and future of garage rock’n’roll kept simple. It’s an enclosed fantasy world of Happy Days style 50’s retro with a punk-rock sneer and a wink. Knowing and thrilling, the Mudd Club are escapism as a political act. Trash art that refuses to accept that life is hard and the world is falling apart.
– also Ged Babey, Louder Than War
Also featuring guests – “The Swamp Puppies” (Authentic Southern Alt-Country). Link in bio for tickets

Two-time winners of Best Album at the Welsh Folk Award (debut album Ty Ein Tadau (2019) and 2022’s islais a genir), VRï are Jordan Price Williams (cello, voice), Aneirin Jones (violin, voice) and Patrick Rimes (viola, violin, voice). Inspired by the incredible story of a time when Wales’ traditional music and dance was suppressed by Methodist chapels, and, earlier, its language by the Act of Union, VRï shed new light on a vibrant folk tradition that harnesses the raw energy of the fi ddle with the fi nesse of the violin, and the beauty of chamber music with the joy and hedonism of a pub session, all underpinned with powerful vocal harmonies.

Somana’s music oscillates between melancholic ballads and spiritual experiences, their music leads one on a journey of cinematic proportion that evokes ancient beliefs, revolution, healing, fallen civilisations and intense deliberations of love, loss and death. They possess a truly unique spirit born from a nomadic and solitary existence, placing great emphasis on the philosophy of dreams, the interior of the subconscious and the power of improvisation, with its shamanic quality. This is music for the soul.

Amadou Diagne has centuries of West African music at his fingertips. Cory Seznec is a musical wanderer and uncertified ethnomusicologist. A chance encounter while busking in the streets of Bath planted the seeds of a collaboration that’s been fermenting now for over a decade. Life embarked them on different touki (journey in Wolof, Amadou’s mother tongue), but thanks to the support of Arts Council England those seedlings are shooting up into the light. Following Touki’s album Right of Passage (released in 2020) they are excited to be releasing their sophomore record, Plastic Man, at the end of 2023. Both albums were recorded at Peter Gabriel’s legendary Real World Studios.

Volcano Theatre – Ar Lan y Môr
Tuesday 29 August 19:30
Rhiannon’s grandmother is one of the last residents living on the street, on Pembrokeshire’s seafront. Of the 19 houses there, 15 are holiday homes.
Mam-gu sits by the window in the parlour. The tide is turning. The people disappear.
What does the future hold for the street? What does the future hold for west and north Wales coastal areas? What is the impact of holiday homes on local language and culture? What are the personal difficult decisions involved?
Rhiannon Mair gives voice to some of these issues in a Welsh-language performance. With the help of stones, she will combine multi-layered storytelling through language and body.
The audience is invited to stay for a cuppa and informal chat after the performance.
Nb Performance is in Welsh – English translation sheets will be available.
